Price: ⭐⭐⭐/5 Taste: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Uniqueness: ⭐⭐⭐.5/5 Black Sesame Milk Tea – It’s name says it all: black sesame in milk tea. I ordered mine with 50% sugar and 70% ice. My Thoughts: The initial taste has a pleasant black sesame taste to it, which is to be expected. However, the taste of it was not as strong as I had hoped. There either wasn’t enough of the black sesame put in or perhaps the portion of the milk tea plus the ice had diluted the taste. However, even after half an hour, the taste was still the same, which was a good thing. Unfortunately, it did lack the aroma of whatever the tea that was used to make it. Near the end was a concentration of the black sesame, which looked as if the last few sips were going to have a grainy feel to it. However, that was not the case at all. In my opinion, it would’ve been better if the taste of the black sesame was stronger. Would I order this again? Yes, I like black sesame in general so I would definitely purchase it again. Despite the black sesame not being potent enough, overall, it is still a refreshing drink, and it’s unique to Gongcha as I have not seen black sesame drinks in other places. Next time I think I would try it with less ice and possibly pair it with a topping that complements well with it.

Taste: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Price: ⭐⭐⭐.5/5 Uniqueness: ⭐/5 I ordered mine with 50% sugar and 70% ice 🧊 My thoughts? Initial taste has a prominent tea taste 🍵 followed by a slight sweetness from the mango 🥭 The small bits of mango shreds helped the mango flavour shine through and adds a nice texture to the drink. For me, I think 50% sugar was perfect as the star jellies are sweet on its own. The sweetness from the jellies complements the drink as it helped neutralized the bitter aftertaste of the tea. And if yall are wondering whether the pink star jellies have any flavour them, they don’t 😅 They’re said to be strawberry flavoured, but to me, they just taste like regular coconut jelly. Would I order this again? Yes, I like green tea in general, so I really liked how strong the green tea taste was! The drink, overall, was simple, refreshing, and light, which made it very pleasant to drink🙂 Price: $7.00 – before tax
Taste: ⭐⭐⭐/5 Price: ⭐.5/5 Uniqueness: ⭐⭐/5 The drink is basically a mango smoothie topped with milk foam and star jellies on the bottom. I got mine with 70% sugar and ice level can’t be tweaked. My thoughts? Well first thing first, it looks nothing like the picture promoted. Mine looks more like a milk foam smoothie with mango syrup more than a mango smoothie topped with mango foam, but I mean it could just be the person whose making it. Initial sip, no mixing, the drink was very creamy which was expected as you can see the milk foam to mango smoothie ratio is unbalanced. Also explains why the mango flavour was a bit lacking. After mixing and fully incorporating everything, the drink became less creamy and sweeter. The texture of the drink was icy like slush. The star jelly is said to be strawberry flavoured, but I didn’t taste any strawberry flavour at all, it’s like ordinary coconut jelly. Honestly, the drink is better without the jelly as it doesn’t complement the drink at all, and it just adds more sweetness to the drink than needed. But not gonna lie, visually they're kind of cute😆The overall taste is similar to mango pudding with evaporated milk like the ones you get from dim sum but in drink form. I suggest getting this drink with 50% sugar and in size small or medium, as I find the drink starts to turn into liquid overtime and for me it tasted like drinking sweet milk; again this may differ depending on the person who makes it – more mango to milk, more mango taste. Would I order this again? No, I don’t think the overall quality of the drink was worth $7. For $7, I would much rather get the Mango Pomelo from The Bubble Shop that consists higher quality ingredients such as, fresh coconut milk, fresh mango and pomelo, and sago. |
